Located in the Saguenay Fjord, this bay is a Mecca for winter fishing.
This small, carnivorous fish, which lives in freshwater and saltwater, does its name proud. Its body is silver, its back pale green and its sides iridescent.
The large rainbow smelt population has decreased significantly over the past 40 years, mainly due to agricultural pollution and riverbank erosion. Recreational fishing has also contributed to this decline. This is why it’s so important not to catch more than allowed.
