This lake is where the River widens between Sorel-Tracy and Trois-Rivières.
One River, three lakes
The River is fed by water from the Great Lakes, which constitute the largest freshwater system in the world! Added to this are the waters of many other large and small rivers.
Over its length, we find three stretches of water big enough to be considered lakes: Lake St. Francis, Lake St. Louis and Lake St. Pierre. They are fluvial lakes.
The St. Lawrence is also dotted with 600 islands and archipelagos.
