Mouth of the Saguenay

Mouth of the Saguenay

Between Tadoussac and Baie-Sainte-Catherine, are the cliffs of the fjord.

  • Beluga whale singing

    Group or “pod” of belugas.

Sailors nicknamed them “sea canaries” due to their vast repertoire of cries: whistles, cackles, squawks, trills, etc.

These are apparently a form of adaptation to life in ice-bound waters, since ice is a significant source of noise.

Belugas can sometimes be heard through the hull of a small boat and even outside the water.
