At Havre-Aubert, on the Magdalen Islands, is this historical expanse of stones and pebbles.
La Grave site
The first “downtown” area in the Magdalen Islands archipelago definitely had no skyscrapers or highways! It grew over the 19th century around the fishing industry.
Located very close to the water, as soon as the fishing boats arrived, the fish could be dried on fish flakes there.
Since the beach bordering the buildings was made of gravel, it was called La Grave. Today, it’s a historical site.
